Saskatoon Berry Tree
So I decided to make Jam with all those
lovely Saskatoon Berries.
Here they are boiling in the pot.
And here is the finnished product.
I found the recipe here.
Here is the cooking version that I used:
Saskatoon Jam Recipe Yield: About 3 cups (750 mL)
Ingredients:
  • 4 cups (1L) Saskatoons
  • 3 cups (750 mL) sugar
  • 1/4 cup (50 mL) water
  • Juice and grated peel of 1/2 lemon
Instructions:
  1. Crush Saskatoons in a Dutch oven; heat gently until juice starts to flow
  2. Add sugar and water and bring to a boil, stirring constantly
  3. Add lemon juice and peel; bring to a boil and cook, stirring frequently until thick, about 15 minutes
  4. Pour into hot sterilized jars, leaving 1/4 inch (6 mm) head space; wipe jar rims thoroughly
  5. Seal and process in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes
The jam ended up being delicious!

The One-Eyed Mystery ...

Many of you have already met our delightful One-Eyed Monsters! These oddities make their homes in the space underneath your beds. Living amongst the dust bunnies and many lost socks they are quite comfortable and happy.

Little is known about them and therefore their origin remains largely a mystery. However, what is known is that they can see into the world of the spirits, both the good and evil, and into the realm of dreams. The physiology of their large central eye is unlike anything that modern science has ever seen. No scientist has been able to discover exactly how they work, that is if they can even manage to capture one of these creatures to study.

These One-Eyed Monsters are always peeking over their shoulders and looking this way and that way, watching for harmful spirits and nightmares that threaten to invade you as you sleep. When they do detect such a threat they call out to you. No one really knows what this call sounds like as it can only be detected by your conscience while you sleep. What we do know is that this noise causes you to awaken suddenly while simultaneously frightening away the unwanted spirits and nightmares.

Superstition dictates that these harmful spirits cannot enter your mind while you are awake, and so pray on the sleeping.

Have you ever awaken suddenly from a deep sleep and felt so sure that someone was calling to you? You couldn't hear their call, but you could feel it? You were so certain that you were not alone in your room, but no other person was with you?

What have we been up to?

beStuffies hopes that everyone has been enjoying their spring and all of the wonderful sunny weather we have been getting ...

well at least the sun we have been getting in between the rain :)

We just wanted to share with you some of the new things we have been creating over the last month or two.

Our collection of Wall Art has been growing after some interest in more designs.

Some more spring inspired art that still has that beStuffies charm!

Brandy has also taken one of our most popular monster characters from our collection of ornaments and created a standard sized monster plush, the perfect size for hugging!

Erin has also been working away on some new critters. She has been creating some really fantastic stand alone plush and has desgined this completely loveable Narwhal!!

Spikey is now currently available for adoption online at www.bestuffies.etsy.com.

Keep watching for more one-of-a-kind creations!!
